When should you renew?
AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS cards are valid for two years. The renewal month and year are printed on your eCard. The AHA doesn’t offer a grace period, so once that month passes, your card is expired, and most employers won’t count it. Book your Arlington session a few weeks before your expiration month so a busy week doesn’t leave you with a gap. Not sure when your card expires? Look it up in a minute with our guide to how long CPR certification is valid.
Renewal options at our Arlington station
| Course | Online & Skills | Skills Only |
|---|---|---|
| BLS | $120 | $90 |

| PALS | $295 | $150 |
Choose skills only if you’ve already finished the AHA HeartCode online course on your own. You’ll upload your online completion certificate when you book.
You can complete more than one certification in the same visit. That helps if your BLS and ACLS renewals fall close together. Heartsaver (non-healthcare) courses aren’t listed for this station. See our Heartsaver locations if you need workplace CPR.
Step-by-step: renewing in Arlington
1. Book a time
Pick your course and an open slot on the Arlington booking calendar. Weekday slots run from early morning to evening, which helps around 12-hour shifts.
2. Finish the HeartCode online course
After you register, you’ll get a link to the AHA online portion. Complete it at your own pace before your appointment. AHA’s HeartCode courses are the same pathway whether you’re certifying for the first time or renewing. Read more in BLS renewal vs. initial certification.
3. Get to the station
Your confirmation email includes the door access code and entry instructions. Directions and parking are covered in the next section.
4. Complete your skills session
Practice and demonstrate your skills on feedback manikins at the self-guided station. The station gives you real-time feedback, and you get unlimited attempts.
5. Claim your eCard
Once you pass, your AHA eCard is issued the same day. Claim it from the email, then download the PDF for your employer’s compliance system.

What happens during the skills session
The station is self-guided: you work through the AHA skills checks on manikins that measure compression depth, rate, recoil, and ventilation and coach you in real time. BLS covers adult and infant CPR, AED use, and bag-mask ventilation. Infant compressions now follow the 2025 AHA Guidelines, which call for the heel of one hand or the two-thumb encircling technique; the old two-finger method is no longer taught. ACLS and PALS sessions add the hands-on skills for those courses. If a check doesn’t pass, you can try again. Prep with our BLS study guide, ACLS study guide, or PALS study guide.
