What happens during the skills session

You’ll complete the AHA hands-on skills checks for your course on feedback manikins. They show whether your compressions are deep enough and fast enough, whether you’re allowing full recoil, and whether your breaths are effective, and they coach you as you go. Infant skills follow the 2025 AHA Guidelines: compressions use the heel of one hand or the two-thumb encircling-hands technique, not two fingers. ACLS and PALS sessions add the hands-on skills for those courses. Need a refresher first? Try our BLS practice quiz or ACLS study guide.
